2024 Legislative Accomplishments
This year, Governor Newsom signed six of my bills into law. These new laws improve the lives of Californians by addressing pressing issues related to utility costs and workers’ rights. They also create pathways to affordable education, quality healthcare, and environmental sustainability.
Here is more information on my priority legislation:
AB 1239 – Workers’ Compensation Sunset Extension: Further extends, until January 2027, an existing pilot program that provides injured workers with the option to receive temporary compensation and permanent disability indemnity payments through prepaid debit cards.
AB 2378 – Bartending and Mixology Exemption: Builds the next generation of hospitality workers by allowing bartending and mixology apprentices to taste-test their creations in class.
AB 2462 – Expanding CPUC Reporting: Requires the California Public Utilities Commission to include long-term solutions to lower our utility bills in their annual report on California’s energy market.
AB 3030 – Healthcare Artificial Intelligence (AI) Disclaimers: Increases transparency in healthcare by disclosing the use of Generative A.I. in patient communication when it is not reviewed by a licensed healthcare professional.
AB 3193 – Expediting Assistive Technology and Device Procurement: Streamlines the state process for purchasing assistive technologies, ensuring Californians with disabilities will receive the support they need for work and school in a timely manner.
AB 3240 – California Ban on Scholarship Displacement Eligibility: Expands the protections under my previous legislation, the California Ban on Scholarship Displacement Act, to include Cal Grant–eligible students.
