For immediate release:

Sacramento, CA – As part of the California State Assembly’s annual celebration of Women’s History Month, Assemblymember Lisa Calderon recognized Ms. Isabel Garcia as the 57th Assembly District’s Woman of the Year. Ms. Isabel Garcia is a long time resident of Whittier and has served the healthcare industry for over 17 years, 11 of which have been as the Activities Director at Whittier Hills Healthcare Center and Skilled Nursing Facility.

During the pandemic, her dedication to her patient’s quality of life and passion to continue inspiring her community persisted. Ms. Garcia worked long hours to ensure families continued communicating with their loved ones and made a difference by providing comfort and companionship to residents during these unprecedented times. Selfless in her actions, she has been a true inspiration throughout the 57th Assembly District and the State of California.

“I am thrilled to announce Isabel Garcia as Woman of the Year for the 57th Assembly District,” said Assemblymember Calderon. “This pandemic has been difficult for so many families. Ms. Garcia provided comfort for seniors and older adults at a time when so many felt isolated and alone. I am proud of the work Ms. Garcia and healthcare professionals alike continue to do to provide companionship and an improved quality of life for all.”

Ms. Garcia has dedicated her career to empowering older adults by producing several community outreach events and collaborating with her surrounding community of Whittier. She established several community outreach events, such as sharing letters and gifts to families with newborns at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and hosts Rock for Project of Kindness where residents paint rocks and type uplifting messages for the surrounding community to find.

Ms. Isabel Garcia shares her success with her three daughters, fiancé Frank, and loving parents Maria and John Garcia.
