Governor Signs Calderon Lung Health Bill into Law

SACRAMENTO, CA – On the afternoon of September 30, Governor Newsom signed Assemblymember Lisa Calderon’s (D – Whittier) air quality and lung health bill, Assembly Bill 619, taking an important step to protect those with chronic lung health issues from the adverse effects of wildfire smoke.

Lisa Calderon is a thirty year resident of her district’s community. She served as one of the first Latina legislative aides in the State Legislature, working on a number of issues, including increasing access to affordable healthcare and empowering small business owners. She also brings with her twenty years of experience as a successful businesswoman, where she created good-paying jobs and helped workers gain new skills in order to succeed.
